Getting There

  • Car

    If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the Freycinet National Park Visitor Centre located on Freycinet Drive. From the Visitor Centre, take Freycinet Drive toward Wineglass Bay. After approximately 10 minutes, you will reach the Wineglass Bay car park. There is a parking fee of approximately AUD 24 for a day pass, which you can pay at the machine in the car park. Be sure to keep your receipt visible on your dashboard.

  • Walking

    From the Wineglass Bay car park, you will need to hike approximately 1.5 kilometers (0.93 miles) to reach the Wineglass Bay lookout. The trail is well-marked and takes about 30 minutes to walk up. The path is steep in sections, so wear comfortable shoes and carry water. Once you reach the lookout, enjoy breathtaking views of the bay before continuing down to the beach, which is another 1 kilometer (0.62 miles) from the lookout.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are relying on public transportation, you can take a bus from Hobart to Coles Bay. The bus service is operated by Tassielink and runs several times a day. The journey takes about 2.5 hours. Once you arrive in Coles Bay, you can either take a taxi or a shuttle service to the Freycinet National Park Visitor Centre. From there, follow the car instructions above to reach the Wineglass Bay car park.

  • Bicycle

    For the more adventurous, biking is an option. You can rent a bicycle in Coles Bay and cycle to the Wineglass Bay car park. The ride is about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) and takes roughly 40 minutes. The route is scenic but be cautious of traffic along Freycinet Drive. Once at the car park, you can then hike to the lookout and beach as previously described.
