Getting There

• Car

  If you are starting from Noosa, head south on the Sunshine Motorway (M1) towards the Bruce Highway (M1). Take the exit for the Bruce Highway (M1) heading north towards Gympie. After approximately 25 kilometers, take the exit for Tin Can Bay Road (State Route 21) towards Tin Can Bay. Follow Tin Can Bay Road for about 22 kilometers until you reach the town of Tin Can Bay. From there, continue on to Rainbow Beach Road and follow the signs to Rainbow Beach. As you reach Rainbow Beach, turn onto Carlo Road, which leads to the Carlo Sand Blow. Park your vehicle at the designated parking area and prepare for a short walk across the sand blow towards Double Island Point.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Noosa to Gympie. Once in Gympie, you can catch a connecting bus to Rainbow Beach. Bus services like Greyhound and local operators may provide routes to these destinations. When you arrive in Rainbow Beach, you will need to arrange for a local tour operator or shuttle service that can take you to Double Island Point. Keep in mind that this may require prior booking and could incur additional costs. Alternatively, you can also check local taxi services for transportation from Rainbow Beach to Double Island Point.

• 4WD Vehicle

  For a more adventurous route, consider renting a 4WD vehicle. From Rainbow Beach, drive along the beach to the northern end where the access road to Double Island Point begins. Be sure to check the tide times, as beach driving is best during low tide. The drive along the beach offers stunning views but requires careful navigation of soft sand areas. Once you reach the point, park in the designated area and enjoy the scenic views and walking trails. Note that a vehicle access permit may be required, which can be obtained at local visitor centers or online.
