Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from Noosa Heads and head south on the David Low Way (A1) towards Coolum Beach. Continue on this road for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the town of Cooloola. From Cooloola, follow the signs to the Great Sandy National Park. Once you enter the park, follow the signs directing you to Double Island Point. Note that the last stretch involves a 4WD track, so a four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. Ensure you have a valid National Park pass, which can be purchased at the entrance or online.

• Public Transportation to Car

  Public transport options to reach Cooloola are limited. You can take a bus from Noosa Heads to Coolum Beach and then arrange a taxi or shuttle service to take you to the Great Sandy National Park entrance. Once at the park, you will still need to use a 4WD vehicle to reach Double Island Point. Ensure to check the local bus schedule for the latest times and routes.

• Walking

  Upon reaching the final 4WD track, if you do not have access to a 4WD vehicle, you may consider walking the last section. The walk from the nearest accessible point (where 4WD vehicles can park) to Double Island Point Lighthouse is approximately 1.5 kilometers along a sandy beach and involves some elevation towards the lighthouse. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water.

  Make sure to budget for the National Park entry fee, which is approximately AUD 12 per vehicle.
