Car

If you are driving to Cootapatamba Lookout, start by entering Kosciuszko National Park through the main entrance on the Alpine Way. Follow the Alpine Way towards Thredbo. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to the Thredbo Resort. Once you reach Thredbo, park your vehicle at the Thredbo Village car park. You will need to purchase a National Parks vehicle pass, which costs approximately AUD 29 for a day pass. After parking, take the Thredbo Gondola to the top of the mountain. The Gondola ride offers stunning views and is an essential part of the journey. Once at the top, follow the signs to the Cootapatamba Lookout along the walking path, which is well-marked and takes about 20-30 minutes.

If you are relying on public transportation, catch a bus from Jindabyne to Thredbo. Check the Snowy Mountains Bus service for schedules. Upon arriving in Thredbo, you will still need to access the Gondola. Ensure you have cash or a card ready to purchase your Gondola ticket, which costs around AUD 38 return. Once you reach the top via the Gondola, follow the clearly marked walking paths to Cootapatamba Lookout, which should take about 20-30 minutes.
