Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, begin your journey from the Thredbo area, which is a central point in Kosciuszko National Park. Take the Alpine Way road heading south towards Khancoban. Continue on Alpine Way for approximately 34 kilometers until you see the signs for Geehi Dam. The dam is located just off the Alpine Way, with its entrance clearly marked. Note that parking is available near the dam.

• Public Transport

  For those relying on public transportation, you can take a bus from Jindabyne to Khancoban. Once you arrive in Khancoban, you will need to arrange for a taxi, as public transport does not directly serve Geehi Dam. The taxi ride from Khancoban to Geehi Dam will take about 15-20 minutes and may cost approximately AUD 30-40. Make sure to check the taxi availability in advance as it may not be frequent.

• Bicycle

  If you are adventurous and prefer cycling, you can bike from Thredbo to Geehi Dam. The route follows the Alpine Way, which is scenic but can be quite hilly. Ensure you have a good fitness level, and prepare for approximately a 34-kilometer ride. Remember to bring plenty of water and snacks, as there are limited facilities along the route.

• Walking

  If you are up for a hike, you can walk from the nearby areas like Thredbo or other campgrounds in Kosciuszko National Park. This is a longer trek, so it is recommended only for experienced hikers. The walk from Thredbo to Geehi Dam is approximately 34 kilometers and can take a full day. Ensure you are well-prepared with maps, plenty of water, and food.
