Car
If you are driving, head towards the Kosciuszko National Park from Jindabyne. From Jindabyne, take the Alpine Way (B72) heading towards Thredbo. Follow the Alpine Way for approximately 30 km. As you approach Thredbo, look for the Dead Horse Gap car park sign on your left. Turn left into the car park. There are no fees for parking at Dead Horse Gap.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take a bus from Jindabyne to Thredbo. The bus service operates regularly during the ski season and peak tourist times. Once you arrive at Thredbo, you will need to either walk or take a taxi to Dead Horse Gap, as it is approximately 8 km away. Walking will take about 1.5 to 2 hours along the Alpine Way. Alternatively, consider pre-booking a local taxi service which may incur a cost of around AUD 20-30.
Walking
If you are already in the vicinity of Thredbo and prefer walking, begin your hike from the Thredbo Village. Follow the walking trails that lead towards Dead Horse Gap. The hike is about 8 km and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry enough water and snacks for the hike.
