If you're driving, head towards the Sydney CBD area. Use the M1 or M5 motorways depending on your starting point. Look for signs directing you to the city center. Once you reach the city, follow the signs for 'City Centre' until you get to Elizabeth Street. Turn onto Elizabeth Street and continue until you reach Shakespeare Place. The State Library of New South Wales will be on your left at 1 Shakespeare Pl, Sydney NSW 2000. Parking is available nearby, but be sure to check for any parking restrictions.

Public Transportation - Train
To reach the State Library of New South Wales by train, find your way to the nearest train station and take any train that heads towards Central Station. Upon arriving at Central Station, follow the signs to the exit that leads to Eddy Avenue. From Eddy Avenue, you can either walk or catch a bus. If walking, head northwest on Eddy Avenue, then turn left onto Elizabeth Street. Continue walking until you reach Shakespeare Place, where the library is located. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk from Central Station.

Public Transportation - Bus
If you're taking the bus, check the local bus routes that head towards the Sydney CBD. Buses that stop at Martin Place or Macquarie Street will be your best bet. Once you arrive at either stop, walk towards Shakespeare Place. The State Library of New South Wales is a short 5-10 minute walk from these bus stops. Just walk down Martin Place, turn left onto Macquarie Street, and then take a right onto Shakespeare Place to reach your destination.

Public Transportation - Light Rail
To arrive via the light rail, board a light rail service that heads towards the CBD and get off at the Capitol Square stop. From there, walk northeast along Campbell Street until you reach Hay Street. Turn left onto Hay Street and continue until you reach Elizabeth Street. From Elizabeth Street, turn right and head toward Shakespeare Place. The State Library of New South Wales will be on your left at 1 Shakespeare Pl, Sydney NSW 2000. This walk takes approximately 15 minutes.
