Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Hobart, take the Tasman Highway (A3) towards Launceston. After approximately 2.5 hours, continue onto the Midland Highway (A1) before merging back onto the Tasman Highway. Once you reach Launceston, follow signs for the city center. Once in the city, turn onto Basin Road, which will lead you directly to Cataract Gorge Reserve. The Gorge Scenic Chairlift is located at 69 Basin Rd, Launceston. Parking is available near the chairlift entrance, but be mindful of any parking fees that may apply.

  • Public Transportation

    From Hobart, you can take a bus operated by Redline Coaches to Launceston. The journey takes about 2.5 hours. Once you arrive at the Launceston Transit Centre, you can take a local bus (Metro Tasmania) to Cataract Gorge. Look for route 21, which heads towards the Gorge.
