Car
If you are driving from Hobart, take the Tasman Highway (A3) towards Launceston. After about 2 hours, merge onto the Midland Highway (A1) and continue for approximately 45 minutes. Take the exit towards Cradle Mountain (B51) and follow the signs to Cradle Mountain National Park. Once in the park, follow Dove Canyon Track to reach Knyvet Falls. Parking is available near the trailhead, but a park entrance fee of around AUD 25 applies.
Public Transportation
To reach Knyvet Falls via public transportation, take a bus from Hobart to Launceston (approximately 2 hours). From Launceston, you can catch a connecting bus to Sheffield, which takes about 1 hour. Once in Sheffield, you will need to arrange a taxi or shuttle service to Cradle Mountain (approximately 30 minutes). Ensure to check the bus schedules in advance, as they may vary. The entrance fee for Cradle Mountain National Park is AUD 25.
Hiking
From the parking area at Dove Canyon Track, follow the marked walking trail for approximately 4 kilometers. The trail is well-maintained but can be steep in sections. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to reach Knyvet Falls. Remember to bring water and snacks, and consider wearing appropriate hiking shoes. This hike offers beautiful views, so take your time and enjoy the scenery.
