Getting There

  • Car

    From Hobart, head northwest on the Brooker Highway (A1) towards Glenorchy. Continue on A1 for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Midland Highway (A1). Take the Midland Highway towards the north and follow it for approximately 45 kilometers. At the junction with the Lyell Highway (A10), merge onto A10 and continue for about 30 kilometers. Take the exit toward Mount Field National Park. Drive along Mount Field Road for about 7 kilometers until you reach the National Park entrance. There is a small fee for parking, approximately $16 AUD per vehicle, which is payable at the entrance. After entering, follow the signs to the Lady Barron Falls walking track, which is a short walk from the car park.

    From Hobart, take the Metro Tasmania bus service (Route 711) towards New Norfolk. Get off at the 'Mount Field' stop. From there, you will need to walk approximately 4 kilometers along Mount Field Road to reach the entrance of Mount Field National Park. As you reach the park, there is an entry fee of about $16 AUD per vehicle, but as a pedestrian, you can enter without a vehicle fee. Once inside the park, follow the signs to the Lady Barron Falls walking track, which is a short walk from the visitor center.
