Getting There

  • Chairlift

    The most common and convenient way to reach the Jakobskreuz is via the Bergbahn Pillersee. From St. Ulrich am Pillersee, head to the base station at Buchenstein 13. Purchase a round-trip ticket which includes access to the Jakobskreuz. In summer 2025, a standard round trip ticket with access to the Jakobskreuz costs €30 for adults and €20 for children. With a guest card, the price is €28 for adults and €19 for children. Family tickets are also available. The chairlift operates daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Enjoy the scenic ride to the top.

  • Hiking

    For a more active approach, several hiking trails lead to the Buchensteinwand summit. One popular route starts from the Bergbahn Pillersee parking lot. Follow the signs towards Flecken, then continue along the forest road up to Buchensteinwand. The hike is considered medium difficulty and takes approximately 2-3 hours. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water. Consider taking the chairlift down for a quicker descent.
