From Getreidegasse, a famous street in Salzburg, walk towards Residenzplatz. The Salzburg Cathedral will be visible ahead. The Mariensäule is in the square directly in front of the cathedral.

From Salzburg's main train station (Salzburg Hbf), take bus lines 1, 3, 5, 6, or 25 to the Rathaus. From the Rathaus bus stop, it's a short walk to Domplatz and the Mariensäule. A single ride ticket costs €2.40.

The Mariensäule, an iconic Marian column, graces Domplatz in Salzburg, embodying the city's Baroque spirit. Archbishop Guidobald von Thun commissioned the column as thanks to the Virgin Mary for protection from the plague.The column, approximately 14 meters tall, is topped by a gilded statue of the Virgin Mary. The statue is encircled by figures of the four evangelists: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The intricate carvings and overall design reflect the Baroque style, with its dramatic flair and emphasis on visual impact.Located in Domplatz, the Mariensäule is surrounded by architectural landmarks, including the Salzburg Cathedral.
