    From Gmunden train station, take bus number 1 towards Gmunden, Seeschloss Ort. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes. Check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited on weekends or holidays. Bus tickets cost approximately €2 - €3.

    From Gmunden train station, walk south on Bahnhofstraße, following signs towards Ort. The walk is approximately 30 minutes along a scenic route by the lake. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes.

    From the A1 autobahn, follow signs for Gmunden. Take the B145 road towards Traunkirchen. After about 4 km, you will see signs for Landschloss Ort. Turn left onto Johann Orth-Allee and follow it until you reach the castle. Parking is available near the castle. Parking fees apply. Expect to pay around €15 per day for parking.

Schloss Ort, also known as Schloss Orth, is an Austrian castle located on an island in the Traunsee lake in Gmunden. Its origins date back to around 1080 when it was founded by Hartnidus of Ort. Over the centuries, the castle has undergone numerous renovations and expansions, showcasing a blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural styles.The castle consists of two parts: the Seeschloss (lake castle) and the Landschloss (land castle), connected by a charming 123-meter wooden bridge. The Seeschloss features a chapel dedicated to St. James the Elder, constructed in 1634, and a museum displaying the region's history. Visitors can explore the romantic courtyard, admire the late Gothic staircase, and even see the infamous Hungerturm and original dungeon cells. The Landschloss, built in the early 17th century, boasts four towers with onion domes and intricate wrought-iron window baskets.Schloss Ort has a rich and varied history, having been owned by various noble families and even serving as a forestry training center until 2018. It gained international fame as the filming location for the popular TV series "Schlosshotel Orth". Today, Schloss Ort is a popular venue for weddings, concerts, and other cultural events. Visitors can take guided tours to learn more about the castle's history and architecture or simply stroll through the grounds and enjoy the breathtaking views of Lake Traunsee and the surrounding Alps.
