Getting There

  • Hiking

    The most popular approach is via a hiking trail from Ramsau am Dachstein. From the village center, follow signs towards Hotel Feisterer. The trail begins at the car park below the hotel (Feistererhof trailhead car park). The well-marked path ascends through forests and alpine meadows, eventually reaching the hut. The hike is approximately 10.8 km with an ascent of 1015m and takes around 4-5 hours. Bus 962 stops at the Berghof stop/Feisterer junction, a 10-minute walk to the car park.

  • Public Transport & Hiking

    From Schladming, take bus 960 to Ramsau am Dachstein (Stiererhof bus station). From there, transfer to bus 962 towards the Feisterer junction. Get off at the Berghof stop/Feisterer junction, a 10-minute walk to the car park and the start of the hiking trail. A single ride on the Ramsau Plateau to Schladming costs €2.80 for adults.

  • Cable Car & Glacier Hike

    Take the Ramsauer Verkehrsbetriebe bus from Schladming or Ramsau am Dachstein to the Dachstein Glacier cable car valley station. A toll road leads to the valley station. Purchase a Dachstein Panorama Gondola ticket (approximately €60.50 for a combi-ticket including access to attractions). Ascend to the Hunerkogel mountain station. From there, follow the marked glacier trail towards Guttenberghaus (marker number 674). This is a challenging 4-5 hour hike across the Schladming Glacier and the 'am Stein' plateau, requiring appropriate equipment and experience. Pre-booking the cable car is highly recommended, with a booking fee of €2.90 per person.
