Getting There

    From the parking area (GPS 47.554000, 13.334250) near Unterberg, walk down the road for approximately 100 meters until you see the small yellow signs. Follow the sign pointing left towards Dachserfall. The well-signed trail leads to the waterfall in about 15-20 minutes. There are no fees for accessing the trail or the waterfall itself.

    From Abtenau, take a local bus towards Unterberg. Get off at the Unterberg stop. From there, follow the road to the Dachserfall parking area (GPS 47.554000, 13.334250) and proceed on foot as described in the 'Walking' guidance. A single bus fare within Abtenau typically costs around €2-3.

Dachserfall, a small but captivating karst waterfall, is located near Au in Abtenau, in the Salzburg region of Austria. This natural wonder is fed by melting water that accumulates in a natural spring in the Tennengebirge mountain range. The water emerges directly from the mountain, creating a unique and picturesque scene. When viewing photos of Dachserfall, you'll notice the water gushing directly out of the mountain. The central waterfall has a height of approximately 8 meters. The Dachserfall is best visited in late spring or early summer when the water flow reaches its maximum capacity. At this time, water explodes from all three holes in the mountain. The amount of water flowing out can reach 3m3/sec. To reach Dachserfall, take the exit at the Raiffeisenbank in Abtenau. Follow the road to Unterberg until you see a parking area on the right side of the road. From the parking area, walk down the road for about 100 meters until you see small yellow signs. The sign for Dachserfall will point you to the left. The trail is well-marked, making it easy to find your way. From the parking lot, it's a 15-20 minute walk to the waterfall. You can visit both the Dachserfall and a viewing platform. It is advisable to visit the platform first. At the platform, you'll have a view of the waterfall from slightly above. For a better view from the side, walk back a little (downstream) until you can cross the river and walk to the Dachserfall from the side. After visiting the Dachserfall, you can walk to the Tricklfall. A path next to the Dachserfall goes up, and in 15-20 minutes, you can reach the Tricklfall.
