The fountain received its current appearance in 1732 when Prince Archbishop Firmian commissioned a new facade. Designed by Franz Anton Danreiter, the fountain's design is reminiscent of Roman fountains.The Kapitelschwemme features intricate sculptures, with Neptune, the Roman god of the sea, at its center, mounted on a seahorse. He holds a trident and wears a crown, symbolizing his dominion over water. Two Triton figures flank Neptune, blowing into conch shells, enhancing the fountain's mythological theme.
