From Salzburg's Old Town (Altstadt), Mirabell Palace is easily accessible by foot. Cross the Salzach River via the Makartsteg bridge. Upon reaching the other side, continue straight ahead. You'll see the Mirabell Gardens entrance directly in front of you. The palace is a short walk through the gardens. This walk offers scenic views of the city and takes approximately 10-15 minutes from the heart of the Altstadt. No costs involved.
Public Transport
The 'Mirabellplatz' bus stop is served by numerous bus lines (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 14, 22, 25). From Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take any of these bus lines to Mirabellplatz. The ride is short, and from the bus stop, the Mirabell Gardens are directly adjacent. A single bus fare within Salzburg costs approximately €2.50, purchasable at vending machines or directly from the bus driver (at a slightly higher cost). Consider purchasing a Salzburg Card for unlimited travel on public transport.
Taxi/Ride-Share
Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available throughout Salzburg. A taxi ride from Salzburg Hauptbahnhof to Mirabell Palace typically costs between €6-€10, depending on traffic. The journey takes only a few minutes. Simply ask the driver to take you to 'Mirabellplatz' or 'Schloss Mirabell.'
Driving
If driving, be aware that parking in the immediate vicinity of Mirabell Palace is limited and can be expensive. The Mirabell-Congress-Garage (Faberstrasse 6-8) is a convenient option, located directly opposite the palace. Parking rates start at approximately €3.90 per hour, with daily maximums around €39.00. Street parking is also available, but is subject to time restrictions and fees (€1.50 per hour for a maximum of three hours). Note that the Mirabell parking lot is closed every Thursday from 0:00 to 16:00 due to a weekly market.
