Schloss Neupernstein: A Krems Valley Cultural Gem

Schloss Neupernstein, located in Kirchdorf an der Krems, is a captivating historical site with roots tracing back to 1228. Originally a farm granted to Gundacker von Steyr, the estate evolved significantly over the centuries. In 1715, Jakob Prandtauer designed the quadrangular castle that stands today, with additional structures added between 1771 and 1774, creating a charming architectural ensemble around the central courtyard. Throughout its history, Schloss Neupernstein has served various purposes. It was once a feudal estate, later a residence, and even a district commissariat. Today, it functions as the Kulturzentrum Schloss Neupernstein, hosting cultural events and housing the Kirchdorf Regional Music School.
