From Krems, take bus 715 to Dürnstein Parkplatz P2. The bus ride takes approximately 15 minutes and costs between €2 and €11. From the bus stop, walk through the underpass into the old town. Follow the signs towards Burgruine Dürnstein (Dürnstein Castle Ruins). The trail to Vogelbergsteig begins shortly before the castle entrance.
Car
Drive west from Krems on the B3 federal road to Dürnstein. There are several paid parking lots outside the town center. Parking costs approximately €6 for all-day parking. From the parking lot, walk through the underpass into the old town. Follow the signs towards Burgruine Dürnstein (Dürnstein Castle Ruins). The trail to Vogelbergsteig begins shortly before the castle entrance.

From the center of Dürnstein, head towards the Danube River and follow the signs for the hiking trails. The trailhead for Vogelbergsteig is located at the north end of the town. The walk will take approximately 10-15 minutes before you reach the start of the hiking trail.
