The areitXpress, a modern 10-person gondola lift, serves as the primary access point to the Schmittenhöhe mountain from Zell am See's Schüttdorf district. Equipped with heated seats and Wi-Fi, the areitXpress ensures a comfortable and connected ride, no matter the season.
In winter, the areitXpress is a vital hub for skiers and snowboarders, providing access to slopes for all skill levels. Ski schools and sports shops are conveniently located near the top. The lift also connects to other cable cars like the Glocknerbahn and Areitbahn 2, expanding access to the Schmittenhöhe's ski area. Beyond skiing, visitors can enjoy winter hiking trails and guided snowshoe tours.
During summer, the areitXpress provides access to hiking trails. One popular option is Schmidolin's Baptism of Fire adventure trail, designed for families. Other attractions include the E-Motorcross Park and the Areit 1400 exhibition. The Schmittenhöhe is known as the "family mountain", offering child-friendly activities. Public Transport
From Zell am See Postplatz or Bahnhof (train station), take Regional Bus 660 towards Kaprun. The bus stops near the AreitXpress gondola in Schüttdorf. The journey takes approximately 15 minutes. A single adult fare is around €3.10, but it's free with a valid ski pass during the winter season. In summer, the Zell am See-Kaprun Summer Card provides free use of public transport.
Driving
From Zell am See, follow the Salzachtal-Bundesstraße (B311) towards the south in the direction of Schüttdorf. The areitXpress valley station is located on Salzachtal Bundesstraße 22. Paid parking is available directly opposite the valley station, costing approximately €10.00 for a day ticket. Note that night parking is prohibited between 8:00 pm and 7:00 am.
