Mehlerhaus: A Glimpse into Tux's Past

Step back in time at the Mehlerhaus, a beautifully preserved farmhouse in Madseit that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Tuxertal valley. Parts of the building date back to the early 16th century, and it was inhabited by local families until 1992. Saved from abandonment, the house was renovated and opened as a museum in 1999. The Mehlerhaus features several exhibits that offer insights into the region's past. One exhibit is dedicated to the magnesite plant that operated in Tux from 1925 to 1976, a significant part of the area's industrial history. Other rooms display ancient tools and artifacts related to farming and household life, providing a glimpse into the daily lives of the people who once lived here. You can also see pictures of the families who lived in the house and learn about the history of Tux. In addition to its permanent exhibits, the Mehlerhaus hosts special exhibitions and cultural events throughout the year. In the summer, a local farmers' market takes place here every two weeks, featuring regional products and traditional crafts.
