Discover more about Strasser Häusl

The Strasser Häusl in Laimach is a captivating museum housed in a 300-year-old farmhouse. This historic timber cabin was once home to the Strasser family in the 19th century. The Strasser children, Anna, Josef, Amalia, and Karolina, were known for their musical talents. During the winter, the children traveled to sell gloves and perform traditional Tyrolean songs, including "Silent Night! Holy Night!". The Strasser siblings first performed "Silent Night! Holy Night!" in Leipzig in 1831, and the song quickly gained popularity, spreading throughout Germany and eventually the world. The museum showcases the frugal life of Zillertal mountain farmers in bygone days. Inside, you'll find weathered wooden beams, a wood-fired range, bull's eye window panes, and wrought-iron fittings. The museum also houses a collection of rural antiques, old woodwind instruments, and tools from the era, providing insight into the family's life and times. The museum is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Strasser family and their contribution to the world of music.
