Discover more about Swans Fountain

Nestled in the heart of Baku at Azneft Square, the Swans Fountain is more than just a decorative water feature; it's a symbol of peace, harmony, and Baku's commitment to blending cultural heritage with modern aesthetics. The fountain, with its multiple swan figures gracefully arched, exudes serenity and poise, creating a mesmerizing display as the water dances around them. Originally constructed in the 1960s under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev, the Swans Fountain quickly became a beloved symbol of Baku, inspired by Nizami Ganjavi's poem "Seven Beauties" and Gara Garayev's ballet of the same name. The fountain was a popular spot for relaxation, where residents enjoyed the sea breeze. After the Seaside Boulevard's reconstruction in 2007, the original fountain was replaced. However, due to cherished memories, the fountain was restored in 2018 thanks to an initiative by First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. Today, the reconstructed Swans Fountain features seven swan statues crafted from natural stone by sculptor Murad Sujaddinov, complemented by a pool and sixteen fountain poles. Azneft Square itself is a significant location, witnessing Baku's cultural transformations from its early days through the Soviet era to its contemporary status. The Swans Fountain is not just a piece of public art but a historical landmark, contributing to Baku's narrative and enhancing the city's cultural fabric.
