Car
From Caracol, take the road north towards San Ignacio. After approximately 14 kilometers, you will reach the intersection with the Western Highway (Hummingbird Highway). Turn right onto the Western Highway and continue for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction for Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. Look for signs indicating the reserve. After turning onto the road leading to the reserve, follow it for around 12 kilometers until you arrive at the entrance of the Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. Be aware that some sections of the road may be unpaved and bumpy, so drive carefully. The total driving distance is approximately 56 kilometers and may take around 1.5 hours.
Public Transportation
To reach Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve from Caracol using public transportation, first, take a local bus or arrange for a shuttle from Caracol to San Ignacio. This bus ride will take about 30 minutes and will cost approximately $5 BZD. Once in San Ignacio, you will need to catch another bus heading towards the Western Highway (towards Belmopan). Request the bus driver to drop you off at the junction for Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve. From there, you can either walk the remaining 12 kilometers to the reserve or hire a taxi, which may cost around $20-$30 BZD for the ride.
