Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Coastal Plains, head southeast on the Coastal Highway (also known as the Hummingbird Highway). Continue driving for approximately 20 miles (32 km) until you reach the junction with the Five Blues Lake Road. Turn left onto this road and follow it for about 5 miles (8 km). The entrance to Five Blues Lake will be on your right. Make sure to keep an eye out for signage indicating the lake.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Five Blues Lake via public transportation, first, catch a local bus heading towards Belmopan from any bus stop in Coastal Plains. The fare will typically be around BZ$2.50. Inform the driver you are going to the junction for Five Blues Lake, which is approximately a 30-minute ride. Once you arrive at the junction, you may need to wait for a taxi or a local bus that can take you the remaining 5 miles (8 km) to the lake entrance. Taxi fares in this area usually range from BZ$10 to BZ$15.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, renting a bicycle is a great way to explore Coastal Plains. Start from the main town center and pedal southeast along the Coastal Highway. Expect to travel about 20 miles (32 km) before turning left onto Five Blues Lake Road. The ride can take 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, as the weather can be quite hot.

• Walking

  Walking to Five Blues Lake is not recommended due to the long distance of approximately 25 miles (40 km) from the main coastal area. However, if you are determined to walk, start at the main bus terminal and head southeast along the Coastal Highway. Be aware of traffic and plan your trip to ensure you have enough time to arrive before dark. It's advisable to bring along provisions and ensure you are well-prepared for the journey.
