Walking
From the center of San Ignacio, head west on Burns Avenue towards the Macal River. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the Western Highway (also known as George Price Highway). Cross the highway and continue straight on the path that leads towards the village of San Jose Succotz. Follow the signs directing you to Xunantunich. The walk should take approximately 30-40 minutes.
Bicycle
If you prefer to ride a bicycle, you can rent one in San Ignacio. Start at the town center and follow the same route as walking: head west on Burns Avenue, cross the Western Highway, and continue towards San Jose Succotz. Biking will allow you to reach Xunantunich in around 20-30 minutes, depending on your pace.
Local Bus
For a local bus option, find the bus terminal in San Ignacio, located on the corner of Burns Avenue and the Western Highway. Look for the bus heading towards San Jose Succotz. Once on the bus, inform the driver that you are going to Xunantunich, and they will drop you off at the nearest point. After disembarking, it is a short walk to the entrance of Xunantunich. The bus ride generally takes about 15-20 minutes.
Shuttle Service
Some tour companies in San Ignacio offer shuttle services to Xunantunich. You can book a spot at one of these companies, which are often located near the central plaza. The shuttle will take you directly to the site, making for a hassle-free journey. Make sure to check the schedule and book in advance, as these shuttles can fill up quickly.
