Getting There

Walking
From the center of Bumthang, head towards the Bumthang Dzong, which is a well-known landmark. Once you reach the Dzong, take the path that leads towards the north. Follow the signs for Lhuentse, which is approximately 3 kilometers away. The path will take you through lush fields and small villages. Keep an eye out for locals who may offer directions. After about an hour of walking, you will reach a fork in the path. Take the left fork, and continue walking for another 1.5 kilometers. You will see the imposing structure of Lhuentse Dzong on the hilltop ahead of you.

Rent a bicycle from one of the shops in Bumthang and start your journey towards Lhuentse Dzong. Head north from the main street, following the same route as if you were walking. The bike ride should take around 30 minutes. It’s a scenic route, so enjoy the views as you pedal through the countryside. Once you approach the fork in the path, take the left fork and continue cycling until you get to the base of the hill where the Dzong is located. You will need to lock your bike at the bottom and hike up the final stretch to reach the Dzong.
