From the center of Bumthang, head towards the direction of the Jakar Dzong. Walk northeast along the main road, following the signs for Trongsa. The path will lead you through picturesque landscapes and small villages. After approximately 2.5 kilometers, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the right path that continues to follow the river. After another 3 kilometers, you will see a sign for Trongsa. Continue straight for about 4 kilometers, and you will arrive at the Trongsa Dzong, which is located on the hill overlooking the town.

If you are in Jakar, the walk to Trongsa Dzong is about 7 kilometers. Start by heading towards the main road and turn left. Follow the road signs for Trongsa. The route takes you through beautiful terraced fields and pine forests. After about 3 kilometers, you'll reach a viewpoint where you can see the Dzong in the distance. Continue walking straight for another 4 kilometers, and you will find yourself at the entrance of Trongsa Dzong.

For those coming from the nearby villages, take the local footpaths that lead to the main road towards Trongsa. Depending on your starting point, the distance can range from 2 to 6 kilometers.
