Getting There

Car

From Dagana, head towards the east on the main route towards Thimphu. You will follow the road for approximately 30 kilometers. Look for signs directing to Motithang. Once you reach Motithang, turn onto the road that leads to the Royal Takin Preserve. Follow the signs for about 5 kilometers until you reach the entrance. Be aware that there might be parking fees of around 100 BTN.
Public Transport

Take a local bus from Dagana to Thimphu, which operates regularly throughout the day. The journey takes about 2 hours. Once in Thimphu, you can catch a taxi or a local bus heading towards Motithang. Inform the driver that you are going to the Royal Takin Preserve. The taxi ride from Thimphu to the preserve will cost approximately 300 BTN. If you opt for a bus, the fare is about 50 BTN.
Walking

If you are already in Motithang, the Royal Takin Preserve is accessible by foot. From the main road, walk towards the entrance of the preserve, which is approximately a 30-minute walk from the center of Motithang. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the pathway can be uneven.
