Car
If you're driving from Gasa, start by heading east on the Gasa-Thimphu Highway. Follow the road for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction at Punakha. Take the left fork towards Thimphu. Continue driving for another 50 kilometers. You will eventually see signs for the Trans Bhutan Trail near Norzin Lam in Thimphu. The entire drive should take around 2-3 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach the Trans Bhutan Trail via public transportation, you can take a local bus from Gasa to Thimphu. Buses usually depart in the morning from Gasa's bus terminal. The journey takes about 3-4 hours and the fare is approximately 100 Nu. Once you arrive in Thimphu, disembark at the main bus terminal. From there, you can either walk or take a taxi to Norzin Lam. If you choose to walk, head south from the bus terminal and follow the signs towards Norzin Lam, which is about a 20-minute walk.
Taxi
For a more direct and comfortable option, you can hire a taxi from Gasa to Thimphu. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey; it should cost around 2000 Nu for a one-way trip. The taxi will take you directly to Norzin Lam, where the Trans Bhutan Trail is located. The ride will take approximately 2-3 hours.
