Getting There

Walking
From Mongar town, head east towards the Mongar Dzong for a brief visit. Afterward, exit the Dzong area and continue walking east along the main road that leads out of Mongar. Keep an eye out for signs indicating the direction to Trashigang. The walk is approximately 5 kilometers along a well-maintained path. Enjoy the scenic views of rice fields and local villages along the way. After about an hour, you will reach the junction where the road splits towards Trashigang. Follow the signs towards Trashigang, which is about another 20 kilometers from this junction.

From Mongar, you can take a local bus to Trashigang. Head to the bus station located near the main market area in Mongar. Look for buses with 'Trashigang' written on them. Buses usually depart every hour, but it’s advisable to check the schedule in advance as it may vary. The journey to Trashigang takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Enjoy the stunning views along the way, and once you arrive in Trashigang, you can ask locals for directions to Trashigang Dzong, which is located just a short walk from the bus terminal.
