Getting There

• Walking

  From your current location in Paro, head towards the main road (the National Highway 2). Once you reach the highway, you can either take a taxi to Thimphu or look for a bus that goes to Thimphu, as direct public transport options are limited. If you choose to take a taxi, inform the driver to take you to Chhoten Lam in Thimphu, specifically to the National Memorial Chorten. The drive will take approximately 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic. If you prefer buses, you will need to find the bus terminal in Paro, usually located near the town center. Board a bus heading to Thimphu, and inform the conductor that you need to get off at Chhoten Lam. Once you arrive in Thimphu, you can take a local taxi or walk to the National Memorial Chorten, which is well-signposted and located in the Chang Khorlo area.

  If you are at a central location in Paro, such as the Paro Dzong or the airport, you can easily find a taxi. Simply ask the driver to take you to Chhoten Lam in Thimphu, specifically to the National Memorial Chorten. The trip will take around 1-1.5 hours, and it's advisable to confirm the fare before starting your journey. Upon arrival in Thimphu, the National Memorial Chorten will be visible from the main road.

• Bus

  To reach the National Memorial Chorten by bus, first make your way to the bus terminal in Paro, which is located near the town center. Look for buses heading to Thimphu. Once you board a bus, inform the conductor that you wish to get off at Chhoten Lam. The bus ride will take about 1-1.5 hours. After disembarking in Thimphu, you can either walk to the Chorten, which should be nearby, or take a local taxi for a short ride.
