Getting There

Car
If you are traveling by car, head towards Thimphu from Punakha Valley. The Royal Takin Preserve is located in Motithang, which is approximately a 2-hour drive from Punakha. Follow the route through Wangdue Phodrang and continue towards Thimphu. Once you reach Thimphu, look for the signs directing you towards Motithang. The preserve is situated near the city center, so you should easily find your way. Parking is available near the entrance.

Public Transportation
To reach the Royal Takin Preserve using public transportation, take a bus from Punakha to Thimphu. The bus fare is approximately 150-200 Nu (Bhutanese Ngultrum) and the journey takes around 2 to 3 hours. Once you arrive in Thimphu, you can hire a taxi or use local transportation (like a shared taxi) to get to Motithang. The taxi fare from Thimphu to the preserve should cost around 300-500 Nu. Make sure to tell the driver you want to visit the Royal Takin Preserve.

The taxi fare will cost around 2000-3000 Nu, depending on your negotiation skills and the taxi service.
