Getting There

  If you're traveling by car, start your journey from the center of Sarpang town. Head north towards the Sarpang-Thimphu highway. Continue on this highway for approximately 45 kilometers until you reach the junction for Thimphu. Take the exit towards Thimphu and follow the signs for the city center. Once you enter Thimphu, keep an eye out for Kawang Jangsa, which is the borough where the Folk Heritage Museum is located. The museum is at FJMJ+2R7, so you can use your GPS for precise navigation. The museum is usually open from 9 AM to 5 PM on weekdays and from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  For those using public transportation, you can catch a bus from Sarpang to Thimphu. Buses frequently leave from the main bus station in Sarpang, and the journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Ensure to check the schedule as bus timings may vary. Once you arrive at the Thimphu bus terminal, you can either take a local taxi or a shared taxi to the Folk Heritage Museum in Kawang Jangsa. The taxi ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes, and you should expect to pay around 300-500 Ngultrum for the ride.

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Sarpang to Thimphu. This option is more expensive than public transportation, with fares typically starting at around 1,500 Ngultrum. The taxi will take you directly to the Folk Heritage Museum in Kawang Jangsa. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey as taxis do not always use meters.
