Getting There

  • Walking

    Start your journey from the center of Thimphu at Clock Tower Square, a well-known landmark. From the Clock Tower, head towards Norzin Lam street. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Chhoten Lam, where you will see the National Library on your left. Continue straight, and after approximately 15 minutes of walking, you will reach the junction at Sangaygang. Look for the sign that points towards Phajoding. The trailhead is located along the Sangay Ganag - Wangditse Rd. It’s a steep uphill path, so make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water.

  • Walking

    If you're near Tashichho Dzong, exit the Dzong and walk towards the main road. Follow the road north towards Sangaygang. After about 20-30 minutes, you will reach the Sangaygang area. Look for the trail that leads to Phajoding, which is marked with signs. The trail will take you through beautiful landscapes and offers stunning views of the valley.

    From the Centenary Farmers Market, head west towards the main road (Norzin Lam). Cross the road and continue walking towards the National Memorial Chorten. After visiting the Chorten, proceed up the road leading towards Sangaygang. You will find the trailhead to Phajoding shortly after starting your ascent. The path is well-trodden and easy to follow, but be prepared for a moderately challenging hike.
