Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the center of Thimphu, begin at the Clock Tower Square. From there, head south on Norzin Lam, which is the main street. Continue straight for about 1 km until you reach a junction. At this junction, take a left onto Changangkha Lhakhang Footpath. Follow the path as it ascends gently uphill, enjoying the views of the valley. After approximately 500 meters, you will see the entrance to Changangkha Lhakhang on your right. The temple is situated on a small hill and is marked with traditional Bhutanese architecture.

    If you are near the National Library, exit the library and walk towards the main road. Turn left onto Norzin Lam and walk straight for about 700 meters. At the junction, turn right onto Changangkha Lhakhang Footpath. Continue walking uphill for about 500 meters, and you will find the entrance to Changangkha Lhakhang on your right.

    For those coming from the Tashichho Dzong, exit the dzong and walk towards the main road. Head north on Norzin Lam for about 1.2 km. When you arrive at the junction, turn left onto Changangkha Lhakhang Footpath. Ascend the path for roughly 500 meters until you spot the entrance to Changangkha Lhakhang on your right.
