Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Trashigang, head towards the main road and look for signs directing you to Semtokha. Walk along the road for about 30 minutes until you reach the junction. At the junction, take a right turn and continue walking. After about 15 minutes, you will see the entrance to Simtokha Dzong on your left. The Dzong is situated on a small hill, so be prepared for a slight uphill walk.

  • Public Transport

    Start at the Trashigang bus terminal and take a local bus heading towards Semtokha. The bus ride will take approximately 45 minutes. Upon reaching Semtokha, disembark at the nearest stop and follow the main road for about 10 minutes. You will see signs guiding you towards Simtokha Dzong. The Dzong is located on a slight elevation; follow the path leading uphill to reach the entrance.

  • Bicycle

    If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Trashigang town center and pedal towards Semtokha. The route is mostly downhill initially but will require some stamina for the uphill stretch as you approach the Dzong. The distance is around 6 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the signs for Simtokha Dzong, which will guide you towards the entrance as you climb the final hill.
