Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from the Thimphu city center, head east on Norzin Lam. Continue straight for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the junction at the Clock Tower. Take a right turn onto the main road towards Semtokha. After about 5 kilometers, you will see signs for Simtokha Dzong. Keep an eye out for the Dzong, which is located on your left side at 846 Je Bamo Lam SE. There is parking available near the entrance.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Simtokha Dzong using public transportation, head to the main bus station in Thimphu. Look for buses heading towards Semtokha or the ones specifically mentioning Simtokha Dzong. The journey should take about 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Semtokha stop, get off the bus and walk approximately 300 meters uphill towards the Dzong, which will be visible from the bus stop. Follow the signs leading to Simtokha Dzong.
