Getting There

  • Car

    From Chacaltaya, drive south on the main road leading towards La Paz. After approximately 15 kilometers, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the left fork, which leads to Kunturiri. Continue on this road for another 5 kilometers. You will see signs for Kunturiri as you approach the mountain. Make sure your vehicle is suitable for mountainous terrain, as the road can be rough in places. Once you reach the base of Kunturiri, there is a small parking area where you can leave your car.

    From Chacaltaya, you can catch a local minibus (often called ‘trufi’) heading towards La Paz. Ask the driver to drop you off at the junction for Kunturiri. This ride typically costs around 5-10 Bolivianos. From the junction, you will need to walk approximately 5 kilometers to reach Kunturiri.
