Getting There

Car
If you are driving, begin your journey from the town of Copacabana, which is a popular base for exploring Lake Titicaca. Head south on the main road (Ruta 3) for approximately 10 km until you reach the intersection with the road towards the Reserva Nacional Titicaca. Turn left onto this road and continue for another 5 km. You will see signs directing you to the entrance of the reserve located at Pasaje 2 de Febrero N° 154, Peru. Make sure to have a map or GPS handy, as some areas might not have clear signage.

Public Transportation (Bus)
From Copacabana, you can take a local bus to the nearest town, which is called Huatajata. Buses leave regularly from the main terminal in Copacabana and the fare is usually around 10 BOB (Bolivianos). The journey takes about an hour. Once you arrive in Huatajata, you will need to take a taxi to the entrance of Reserva Nacional Titicaca, which is approximately 15 km away. Taxi fares can vary, so it’s advisable to negotiate a price beforehand; expect to pay around 30-50 BOB.

Public Transportation (Boat)
Alternatively, you can take a boat from Copacabana to the island of Isla del Sol. The boat ride costs approximately 30 BOB and takes about 2 hours. Once you arrive at Isla del Sol, you can hike to the northern part of the island and then take a local boat back to Huatajata. From Huatajata, follow the previous instructions to reach the reserve. Be mindful of the boat schedule, as they may have limited departures.
