Discover more about Tau Pan Camp

Tau Pan Camp is a remote and exclusive safari camp located within the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR) in Botswana. As the first permanent camp established in the reserve, it holds a unique position offering unparalleled access to the Kalahari's stark beauty. The camp sits atop a low sand ridge, providing commanding views of the surrounding plains and the famous Tau Pan, a large salt pan known for attracting wildlife. The camp's design is environmentally conscious, utilizing solar power for electricity and water heating, and employing a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment system. Accommodation comprises nine en-suite tents, including a family tent, each built on a raised deck to maximize the panoramic views. The tents feature comfortable amenities such as king-sized beds, indoor and outdoor showers, and private viewing decks. The main camp area centers around a fireplace, creating a communal space for relaxation and game viewing. Facilities include a lounge, dining area, a bar with self-service drinks, a curio shop, and a small swimming pool. A telescope is available for stargazing, which is exceptional due to the minimal light pollution in the remote Kalahari. Activities at Tau Pan Camp focus on exploring the Kalahari's unique ecosystem. Game drives in 4x4 vehicles, guided by experienced trackers, offer opportunities to spot iconic wildlife such as black-maned Kalahari lions, gemsbok, springbok, and brown hyenas. Nature walks with Bushman trackers provide insights into the traditional knowledge and uses of the Kalahari flora and fauna. Day trips to notable landmarks like Deception Valley, Sunday Pan, and Passarge Valley further enrich the safari experience. For a truly memorable experience, guests can book the sleep-out deck for a night under the stars.
