Discover more about Nxai Pan North Camp

Nxai Pan North Camp is a campsite located within the Nxai Pan National Park in Botswana. The park itself is part of the greater Makgadikgadi complex, characterized by expansive salt pans that were once ancient lakes. Today, these pans are primarily grasslands dotted with islands of acacia trees. Nxai Pan is known for attracting large herds of animals, especially during and after the rainy season (December to April). The campsite offers a chance to experience the raw beauty of the Kalahari. Visitors can explore the fascinating landscapes and look for wildlife such as zebras, wildebeest, springbok, giraffe, lions, and cheetahs. A highlight of the area is the Baines' Baobabs, a group of seven baobab trees made famous by the paintings of Thomas Baines in 1862. Nxai Pan National Park is more accessible than other parks in the region, but a 4x4 vehicle is still required due to sandy roads. The best time to visit for wildlife viewing is during the rainy season, although the roads can be challenging then. The dry season (May to September) offers easier travel conditions.
