  • Air Transfer

    The most common way to reach Camp Xakanaxa is by a light aircraft transfer from Maun or Kasane to the Xakanaxa airstrip. The flight from Maun takes approximately 25 minutes, while the flight from Kasane is around 1 hour. From the Xakanaxa airstrip, it is a 15-25 minute road transfer to the camp. These transfers are typically arranged by the camp as part of the safari package. Costs for flights to the Okavango Delta vary widely depending on the operator, but can range from $300 to $600 per person.

  • Road Transfer

    It is possible to drive to Camp Xakanaxa with a 4WD vehicle, but it is a challenging journey. The drive from Maun takes approximately 4 hours on sandy roads. Camp Xakanaxa (pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka) is a long-established safari camp located in the Moremi Game Reserve, in the heart of the Okavango Delta. As one of the oldest camps in the area, it has maintained its original African bush camp character while providing guests with comfortable accommodations and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. The camp's prime location on the banks of the Khwai River, overlooking the Xakanaxa Lagoon, ensures a year-round land and water safari experience. The surrounding area boasts diverse habitats, including riverine forests, open savannas, winding water channels, and seasonal floodplains, supporting a wide array of fauna and flora. Camp Xakanaxa accommodates guests in spacious, Meru-style tents, each featuring a private viewing deck with comfortable loungers. The tents are raised on wooden platforms and offer en-suite bathrooms with hot showers, flush toilets, and washbasins. The main lodge area includes a lounge, library, dining room, curio shop, sundeck, fire-pit, and plunge pool. A larger swimming pool is also available. Activities at Camp Xakanaxa include morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles, as well as guided excursions through the Okavango Delta's channels and lagoons in hard-bottom aluminum boats. Birding is also a popular activity, especially during the spring and summer months when migratory species are breeding.
