Car
If traveling by car, start from Maun and head northeast on the A3 road towards Moremi Game Reserve. After approximately 90 kilometers, you will reach the entrance of the reserve. Pay the park entry fee (approximately 120 BWP for international tourists). Once inside the reserve, follow the signs to Mboma Island, which is located in the Moremi area. A 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended due to rough road conditions.
Public Transportation
To reach Mboma Island Expeditions via public transportation, take a shared taxi or shuttle from Maun to the Moremi Game Reserve entrance. This ride will cost around 150 BWP. After reaching the entrance, arrange for a guided transfer to Mboma Island through a local lodge or hire a safari vehicle. Alternatively, join a guided tour that includes transportation, which can cost anywhere from 1000 BWP to 1500 BWP depending on the inclusions.
Boat Transfer
Upon arrival at Mboma Island, you will need to take a boat transfer to reach the lodge itself. This is typically arranged by the lodge and costs around 300 BWP per person. Make sure to confirm your boat transfer in advance when booking your stay to avoid any delays.
