The Planetário de Brasília, officially named Planetário de Brasília Luiz Cruls, is a prominent planetarium in Brasília, Brazil, offering an engaging gateway to the cosmos. Inaugurated on March 15, 1974, the planetarium was designed by architect Sérgio Bernandes in a Brutalist style, resembling a landed flying saucer. Its unique architecture and central location on the Monumental Axis make it a recognizable landmark in the city. The planetarium provides visitors with a range of experiences, including educational presentations, mesmerizing visual displays, and exhibits about astronomy and space science. The main dome hosts shows that explore the history of astronomy, the solar system, and deep-space phenomena. Visitors can also explore exhibits about the Brazilian Space Agency and view images of planetary nebulas. After undergoing renovations, the Planetário de Brasília reopened in 2013 with updated facilities, including a new Power Dome VIII projector.
