Discover more about Don Bosco Chapel

Nestled in the scenic Lago Sul of Brasília, the Don Bosco Chapel is more than just a religious site; it's a sanctuary of tranquility surrounded by nature. Dedicated to Saint John Bosco, the chapel is an architectural marvel with a modernist design that embodies peace and calm. The chapel's design is attributed to Carlos Alberto Naves. Enveloped by vibrant greenery and well-maintained walking trails, the park invites visitors to explore its diverse flora and fauna. The chapel, shaped like a pyramid with a beveled base covered in white marble and topped with a metal cross, offers a panoramic view of Lake Paranoá. The interior is bathed in blue light filtering through stained glass windows, creating a starry night effect. The windows, designed by Claudio Naves and crafted by Hubert van Doorne, consist of small squares in 12 shades of blue with white dots. Inside, a golden chandelier made of 7,400 pieces of Murano glass illuminates the space. Statues of Don Bosco and Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora, carved from Carrara marble, add to the chapel's spiritual ambiance. The chapel stands as a testament to Don Bosco's dream of a utopian city, inspiring the foundation of Brasília. The chapel is open daily from 6 AM to 8 PM.
