Public Transport

From Itacaré, take a local bus to Taboquinhas from the Itacaré bus terminal. Buses run regularly, and the fare is approximately R$5. Once in Taboquinhas, Fazenda Taboquinhas is located near the Balsa (ferry). Ask locals for directions to the farm, which is a short distance from the village center.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available in Itacaré. A taxi ride to Fazenda Taboquinhas, located in Taboquinhas, will cost an estimated R$50-R$80 and take around 30-45 minutes. Confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey. The taxi can drop you off near the Balsa, from where you can easily reach the farm.

Driving

From Itacaré, head southeast on Rua da Praia towards Rua do Comércio. Continue onto BA-001 for approximately 11 km until you reach the Taboquinhas area. Turn right onto BA-654 and follow the signs to Taboquinhas. The farm is located near the Balsa. Parking is available near the farm. Note that the road to Taboquinhas is paved. There are no tolls on this route. Parking near the farm is generally free.

Here, you can spend a day with Sr. Osvaldo, a local farmer passionate about permaculture, as he shares his knowledge of cocoa and coffee cultivation.The farm produces its own chocolate, and visitors on the one-day tour can savor the culinary creations of Dona Laura. A simpler, three-hour tour is also available. You'll have the opportunity to explore the cocoa plantations, learn about the harvesting and fermentation processes, and witness the drying of the beans. A highlight is the chance to taste cocoa honey and learn how to make homemade chocolate.Beyond cocoa, Taboquinhas offers a range of activities for nature and adventure enthusiasts. The Contas River provides opportunities for rafting, kayaking, rappelling, and zip-lining. Waterfalls like Cachoeira do Fumo and Pancada Grande offer refreshing swims and scenic views. The surrounding Atlantic Rainforest is a haven for birdwatching and hiking.
