Mirante do Mangabeiras: Belo Horizonte's Panoramic Vista

Mirante do Mangabeiras is a must-visit destination in Belo Horizonte, providing stunning views and a serene atmosphere. Situated at approximately 1,170 meters above sea level, the *mirante* (lookout point) offers a sweeping panorama of the city and its mountainous backdrop. Originally a protected environmental area, the site was transformed into a *mirante* in the early 20th century to allow residents and tourists to appreciate the natural beauty of Belo Horizonte. The park itself spans over 2.3 million square meters and is part of the Atlantic Forest biome, one of the most biodiverse regions globally. The *mirante* features two wooden decks, each measuring approximately 125 square meters, providing ample space for visitors to relax and take in the scenery. In 2021, the city installed three tourist telescopes for detailed observation of the landscape. Two steel structures by Ricardo Carvão, called “Monument to Vision,” invite contemplation of the blend of nature and urbanism. The landscaping, revitalized under the guidance of Laura Mourão, draws inspiration from Roberto Burle Marx's designs, incorporating native species that thrive in the region's climate. These include alpinias, bromeliads, and moreias, creating a colorful and harmonious environment. Open to the public, Mirante do Mangabeiras is a place to appreciate the beauty of Belo Horizonte. It's a prime location to witness the sunset, capture memorable photos, and unwind amidst nature.
