Local tips
- Hike early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat and enjoy cooler temperatures.
- Bring plenty of water and sun protection, as there is very little shade along the trail.
- Wear sturdy hiking shoes due to the rocky and uneven terrain.
- Combine your hike with a swim or snorkel at Salt Pond Bay or Blue Cobblestone Beach.
- Keep an eye out for local wildlife, such as goats and various bird species.

Driving
From Cruz Bay, the main town on St. John, drive east on either North Shore Road or Centerline Road towards Coral Bay. Turn right onto Route 107 at the Coral Bay sign. Continue for just under four miles to the Salt Pond Bay parking lot on your left. Parking is free, but the lot can fill up quickly, especially during peak season. Consider arriving early (before 9 am) to secure a spot. Taxis are also available from Cruz Bay.

Walking
From the Salt Pond Bay parking lot, walk across the dirt path to Salt Pond Beach. Continue to the far end of the beach. Follow the path to the right along the shoreline. The trail then goes into the woods and up a hill. Follow the path until you reach Ram Head.
