    From Cruz Bay, taxis are readily available. Open-air safari taxis are a popular choice. Negotiate the fare with the driver before departing. A taxi to Lameshur Bay, the starting point of the trail, will cost approximately $20-$30 for one person. Rates are per person and may be lower if you are traveling in a group. Confirm the rate with the driver beforehand. Luggage may incur an additional charge of $3 per bag.

  • Public Transport

    VITRAN public buses operate on St. John. The bus fare is $1 per ride. However, the bus route may require a walk from the bus stop to the trailhead. The 'Dollar Bus' goes from Cruz Bay to Coral Bay, but it doesn't go to popular beaches. It may not be the most convenient option for visitors.

  • Rental Car

    Renting a car, preferably a Jeep or SUV, is a popular option on St. John due to the mountainous terrain. Several car rental agencies are located in Cruz Bay. Driving to the trailhead from Cruz Bay takes approximately 30-40 minutes. Parking is available near Lameshur Bay, but it can be limited. Be aware that driving is on the left side of the road.

This 2.4-mile trail (round trip) connects Lameshur Bay with Bordeaux Mountain Road. Once used to transport bay rum leaves, the trail presents a steep and rocky ascent, making it suitable for experienced hikers. Starting near Lameshur Bay, the initial section involves a climb up a four-wheel-drive road leading to a National Park ranger residence. The official trail begins near a historic grave site. As you ascend, the trail offers several viewpoints with stunning vistas of Great Lameshur Bay, Yawzi Point, and Ram Head Point. The diverse environment transitions from cactus scrub to a dry forest with genip and turpentine trees. Keep an eye out for the ruins of charcoal pits, tamarind, and genip trees along the way.
