The House Museum of Nikola Vaptsarov, nestled in the heart of Bansko's Old Town, offers a glimpse into the life and times of one of Bulgaria's most beloved poets. Dedicated to Nikola Vaptsarov (1909-1942), the museum is housed in the very home where he lived after 1912. Established in 1952, it stands as one of the first museums in the Pirin region, marking the beginning of museum activity in Bansko. The museum's exhibits present an ethnographic collection that spans Vaptsarov's life, from his childhood to his untimely death. Visitors can explore the cabinet of his mother, Elena Vaptsarova, the living room, and the guest room, all meticulously arranged to reflect the atmosphere of his time. Original documents, including his Christening certificate and notebooks, are also on display. Films about Vaptsarov are available in English, French, German, and Russian. Vaptsarov's life after enrolling in the Naval Machines School in Varna is traced in two rooms on the upper floor, showcasing rich documentary and pictorial materials. Among the exhibits is his only poetry collection published during his lifetime, "Motor Songs," and the World Peace Committee award granted to him posthumously in 1952. The house itself was declared a historical monument of culture of national significance in 1973.
